In the aftermath of the Roar, the world was saturated with volatile Echo energy. Resonant Cores are one of the many crystalline formations that emerged from this chaotic energy, often found in areas of high Echo concentration. While some ancient ruins contain remnants of early experiments with Echo energy, there is no evidence of a civilization that weaponized it. Modern Resonators and researchers study these cores to better understand Echo energy, but they are not a direct product of ancient weaponization. The core's function is purely as a passive conduit, and it does not alter the user's biology or psyche.

Resonant Cores in gameplay are represented by Echoes, which players equip to grant specific stat bonuses and unique passive abilities to their Resonators. These items are categorized by rarity, with higher-tier Echoes offering more significant attribute increases such as ATK%, CRIT Rate, or Healing Efficiency. When multiple Echoes from the same set are equipped together, they trigger powerful Set Effects that can drastically alter a character's playstyle. For example, some sets focus on increasing damage after using skills, while others prioritize survivability by reducing incoming damage or enhancing shields. Acquisition is primarily achieved through exploring the open world, completing domain challenges known as Echo Synthesis, and defeating elite enemies that drop specific Echo fragments. Optimizing a build requires matching the Echo's elemental affinity to the Resonator's needs and selecting set effects that synergize with their skill rotation for maximum combat efficiency.
